'Can editing ruin an image? Of course, it can. But intelligent and stylish editing not only allows for improvement but also endows it with life and personality.'

For me, the essence of wildlife photography does not lie in locations, animals, or cameras; though technically, a good camera certainly helps. Rather, it resides in the photographer’s ability to capture that precise moment when the animal, light, and framing align perfectly: first in the photographer’s mind and then, as a result, in the photograph itself.

However, the recipe would not be complete without the editing process, which infuses personality and soul into the image, reflecting the photographer’s spirit. In this workshop, we aim to adopt a unique perspective on wildlife photography, striving for a combination of perfect framing and intelligent editing.

WHO IS IT FOR?

This workshop is intended for photographers of all levels, from amateurs to experts who wish to delve into professional-level editing or improve their post-production skills. I will primarily use basic Photoshop tools, such as Camera Raw, which is very similar to Lightroom, making the editing accessible for photographers of any level.

HOW IS IT CONDUCTED?

It is a full, intense day, during which I teach you step-by-step the entire process: from turning on the camera to the final editing touch.

During the first half of the day, we will focus on the practical part. We will take photos together from a pre-agreed hide, where I will explain how I take the photo, both technically and artistically.

After the session, we will move to my studio about 40 kilometers from Madrid, where – after a break for lunch – we will choose the best images from the session, and I will show you step-by-step my entire photo editing technique. You will also learn to use all the tools I employ during the process.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

A photographic camera with a lens ranging from 400mm to 600mm, with the optimal focal length being 400mm.

Many people are opposed to image editing, arguing it involves manipulation. I personally do not agree with this view. For me, editing is not only an important part of the photographic process, but it is also essential.

Think about it: every day, countless photos of bears or golden eagles are taken, probably thousands or even tens of thousands. So, how do you make your photograph stand out in this vast sea of similar images?

A fundamental component lies in the editing: it infuses the image with your soul, your unique personality. My aspiration is that when someone sees one of my photos among this ocean of ‘similar’ images, they can immediately identify it and say: “This photo is by Alex!”. That is the real challenge and goal I set for myself.

This workshop is aimed at photographers of all levels, from amateurs to experts who wish to delve into professional-level editing or improve their post-production skills. I will use basic Photoshop tools, primarily Camera Raw, akin to Lightroom, making the editing accessible for photographers of any level.

HOW IS IT CONDUCTED?

This private class spans approximately 5 hours and is divided into two parts. First, I will explain my digital editing process in detail, tailoring the teaching to each participant’s level.

After a meal break, you will have the opportunity to apply what you have learned, with my constant supervision to clarify any doubts.

While it’s always preferable to share the same physical space in a training environment, current technologies allow us to overcome the distance obstacle with ease and absolute convenience. However, it’s essential that the right tools are in place, and internet connectivity is optimal.

What I intend through this online workshop is to recreate, in the most reliable way possible, the same conditions of a face-to-face course on photographic editing, but with the help of digital media. That is, the core of the training is essentially the same, and the only thing that changes is the adaptation to the online territory.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Similar to the other two workshops, participation in this online format is viable for all types of audiences regardless of their level. Naturally, it is especially suitable for individuals who, due to lack of time, difficulty in traveling, or other reasons, prefer to receive this specialized training from the comfort of their own homes.

HOW IS IT CONDUCTED?

The goal is to simulate an in-person class using current technological possibilities. Therefore, having a high-speed internet connection is essential to ensure smooth communication between the instructor and the student.
