ITINERARY

Day 1

Pick-up at the Kilimanjaro international airport and transfer to the hotel in Arusha where we will rest until the next morning.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will leave for the Arusha airport to catch a small airplane that will take us to the Ndutu area. This is where our African adventure begins.

After lunch at Lake Masek Tented Lodge, we go on our first safari.
During this season large herds of migratory herbivores, that come down from the northern Serengeti, are concentrated in this area in search of fresh pastures, followed by predators.

Days 3-4-5

Full days of safaris. During this season it can rain occasionally. However, it´s the best time to visit this area, where most of the fauna is represented during this month. In addition, at this time it is possible to contemplate hunting scenes, since the newborn animals are very vulnerable despite the protection of the herd.

Day 6

We will leave early in the morning and go to the Ngorongoro area, with the goal to spend the day in the Ngorongoro crater. We will descend to the Ngorongoro crater where wild animals in there immense concentration live in its 20 km diameter.

We will do a photographic safari and have our picnic inside the crater itself. The Ngorongoro crater is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is the largest intact volcanic caldera on the planet, and is considered the eighth wonder of the world.
It is a natural amphitheater surrounded by walls 600 meters high, and a diameter of 20 kilometers that houses the densest populations of large mammals in the world. On a single day of safari, it is possible to see an astonishing variety of animals including large predators.
We spend the night at NGORONGORO SERENA SAFARI LODGE.

Day 7

We will enjoy the final safari in the Ngorongoro crater, and go to the Kilimanjaro airport with a stop for lunch.

Lake Masek Tented Lodge

This luxury tented camp is situated on the banks of lake Masek in Ndutu and located between the enormous plains of Serengeti and the north eastern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

From the private terrace of your tent you can observe the impressive spectacle of wildlife. Many animals visit the lake in search of water and therefore this camp is in a privileged observation point. This area is the principle setting of the Great Migration, which takes place from December to April, and the Big Five visit the area.
The camp is ecological without losing in comfort and attention. The electricity is generated by solar panels and the water is rain water collected during rains. All the products used are biodegradables.

Elegant tents are built on raised wooden platforms with en-suite facilities and an outside shower. After a day of safari, guests can enjoy a refreshing shower under the stars or take a relaxing bath in the room. Each tent has its own private terrace where guests can enjoy the landscape and the surroundings.

The main building includes a lounge and dining room with a large terrace overlooking Lake Masek. The premises include an area to relax with comfortable sofas, outdoor and indoor dining areas and a swimming pool. In the evening, a camp fire is lit, and guests can enjoy a cocktail whilst watching the sun go down.

Balloon safaris can be arranged during the migration season and visits to the Olduvia and Laetoli Archeological sites are worth making, for extra pay.

Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge blends almost indescribable beauty and magnitude of the Ngorongoro Crater with unparalleled standards for comfort and service. Clinging to the Crater rim among river stones and a cloak of native vines, this accommodation is so seamlessly entwined with the landscape, that guests can’t help but feel as part of the natural surroundings.

With a private stone balcony opening onto the blue-green vastness of the Crater floor below, you feel like staying in the “cradle of mankind”.
